ENKONGU NAROK PRIMARY SCHOOL

Situated on the southern borders of Kenya in the Kajiado District, at the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro this small primary school caters for the children of the local massai communities that are poor. The famlies live in semi arid conditions with little food depending on limited annual rainfall for crop production and have limited resources to provide for disposable incomes.

Following the initial development of five permanent classrooms, a further three classrooms were added to the school by the Foundation. The school has minimal facilities and depends on pit latrines for sanitation. It is a primary school of grade one to eight and the subjects taught are mathematics, english, science, social studies and C.R.E. There are four trained teachers that are paid by the local government and four untrained teachers supported by the parents. The total numbers of students at the school are three hundred and forty.

The Foundation continues to assist in providing school fee, uniforms, food or any other resources to sustain the childrens’ needs and education.
